A brief overview of the RADAR-BE project

The RADAR-BE project started in January 2018 carried out two exploratory visits, four months of data collection in the field. The first exploratory visit was carried out by the Benin team only and the second one was attended by the IRD representative of the project. A total of 49 field expeditions, 200 genetic samples were collected including 13 from 6 of the 12 forest blocks visited and 97 from 4 of the 42 markets of remains. In the 4 markets, 63 species of mammals were observed compared to only 5 in the bushmeat markets. A distance of 4,000 km was covered for all the expeditions.
